EVAP and P0455 code/ check engine light
« on: April 24, 2010, 05:52:46 pm »
Good day folks, I have a bit of a problem and was hoping someone has a quick solution, or at least point me in the right direction.

A week ago the check engine light has come on. No other felt or seen problem with the I had a busy week so I didn't have time to check it.  I hooked up a code reader today and got P0455, evap gross leak.  I also today tried to fuel up the truck and I had problems.  There is no transfer of air to fuel and the pump would click off every few seconds.  It would only allow me to put few liters of fuel in at a time.

I have done a bit of research and I know that the fuel cap maybe an issue.  I will replace that, however I don't feel that is the only problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If I recall, that may be the purge valve/canister. I think trAV had one go bad on his. I'll send him a pm to see if he can verify that.

If it is doing it while refueling, I doubt it is the gas cap. I say that because once you remove the cap all the pressure will be gone. I'd agree with OBB on this one.

I have done more reading and I agree guys.  I'm leaning towards the EVAP solenoid.
