Need new tires, suggestions?
« on: October 06, 2016, 08:06:00 am »
Howdy all, just wanted to pick your brains about tire choice for my 02 z71.

I picked her up out of state and knew before I drove home that it would need new tires eventually. The only worry is, I've been an import/small truck guy most of my life, so I'm pretty well versed in what the best low profile tire is for the money...but when it comes to truck tires...I'm a little in the dark.

I've had good experiences with general tires in the past, and was looking at the General grabber at2's. My only question is, many of the sizes of this tire have the *severe* snow rating, but the size for the z71 does not seem to (265/70/17). The grabber at2's are about the top of my price range, I was also looking at the pathfinder all terrains?

Any thoughts on either of these tires would be appreciated!

They will be used for mostly highway use, snow use (we get some pretty heavy snow/ice here in KY), as well as moderate off road use (trails, creeks, moderate jeep trails, nothing crazy) to get to camping spots 10-12 times a year.

I had the AT2 s on one on my avys at one point. Nice tires and should do everything you need them to. Might have a little more road noise than you're expecting but it isn't too bad.

I just put cooper discover a/tw's on mine. Paid $150 per and got a $70 visa card from cooper. They have the snow rating and have a 55k mile warranty.
